Underwater Microphones Capture the Sound of Japan's 9.0 Magnitude Earthquake

This is what the devastating earthquake in Japan sounded like in the Alaskan Aleutian Islands located 900 miles away from the epicenter of the quake.

Scientists at the NOAA Vents Program at Pacific Marine Environmental Laboratory and Oregon State University heard the March 11, 2011 Honshu, Japan earthquake using a hydrophone located near the Aleutian Islands of Alaska.

It’s a pretty terrifying, awe-inspiring sound to say the least.
