For a year or so now I’ve been using the Air Video app to stream movie and tv shows from my computer to my iPhone and iPad. It’s a cool app but requires that you be connected to your WiFi network in order to access your stuff, which is obviously limiting.
ZumoCast on the other hand allows you to access not only your videos and music but practically any file you’d like with your iPad or iPhone over any kind of network, even 3G. Like Air Video you can convert your files on the fly, but unlike Air Video you can download files straight to your device which can come in extremely handy.
- No more syncing music to your phone. ZumoCast streams your entire music collection to you with a familiar interface. It even supports your iTunes playlists.
- Streams video of any format (mp4, avi, mkv, divx, rm, and more). No conversion necessary. Video can be streamed over any connection, even 3G.
- ZumoCast is designed for your mobile devices. The iOS app adapts media to work with any connection. It also lets you download media to the device for offline access.
- ZumoCast turns your computers into a personal cloud, enabling you to access all of your files and media without having to upload. Now you have access to all your content with zero effort.
Ever been out and wanted to show off a photo you forgot you had left on your home computer? Not a problem if you have your photo folder synced with ZumoCast, just jump on the app and show off every photo on your home computer!
The best part about all of this is that, as of right now, ZumoCast is totally free. They do offer a premium solution but it’s not clear what features are missing from the free version right now, if any. There is absolutely no reason why you shouldn’t be using the hell out of this app right now.
