PriceProtectr.com Digs Themselves a Deeper Hole

It didn’t take long for PriceProtectr to respond to my earlier post about the crazy numbers they’ve been sending out in their price drop emails. Within an hour of my post I received an email from Dave Cohen, CTO of Price Protectr.

Just wanted to send a quick note about today’s price drops — it looks like we received some incorrect pricing information. This should be fixed and everything should be back to normal tomorrow!

Sorry for the inconvenience and thanks for using Price Protectr,

Dave Cohen
CTO, Price Protectr

The only problem? Cohen, the Chief Technical Officer who sent that email, CC’d the entire mailing list, revealing all of our addresses to each other. Thanks to Mr. Cohen, I now know every other cheap jerk out there trying to eek out a deal through Price Protectr.

No wonder they’re having such a difficult time nailing down a way to correctly monitor prices. The CTO of the company apparently doesn’t know how to, or doesn’t care to keep its clients privacy protected by using BCC in a mass email.

In all fairness though it is called Price Protectr, not Privacy Protectr. Unsubscribe.

  1. You might like to check out http://www.GoEyeball.com if you still enjoy having a tool that helps you price monitor. You can set the threshold (amount that the price drops) to your liking. There are not as many features yet but seems every time I go back on the site there has been some improvement. They have been good about adding sites that aren't verified and I have made “eyeballs” (price monitors) for sites that they haven't listed as verified. Hope you enjoy the site as much as I have. Simple and straighforward to use after I have watched the tutorial but being not too tech savvy, simple sites are best for me.
