I’m officially gay for Gmail. First they add Gmail Tasks and now, two days later, they officially roll out SMS messaging in chat. You may remember that Gmail tried to roll out SMS messaging a few weeks ago but shortly after launching things went a little crazy and they realized they still had a few bugs to work out. Now it’s back.
We’re just trying it out for cell phones in the United States right now, but you can send texts to your friends with US phone numbers from anywhere in the world. You can start by just typing a phone number or into the search box in the chat window on the left, then select “Send SMS.” You can also select the contact you want to SMS first and then add their phone number.
If they add like two more features I’m moving out of my apartment and completely living off the land and my Gmail account. I won’t need anything else.
